It has been an insanely busy fall with many wonderful adventures. 

You may remember a few weeks ago I headed on a girls getaway to Tybee Island and Savannah with Cheri and Whitney with The Southern Coterie,  Kat of Waiting on Martha,  Monica with Lavin Label and Kelli Boyd, our photographer, our tour guide and personal google map for the lowcountry adventure.

This trip was planned with Visit Tybee Island and Visit Savannah.

They generously provided us with recommendations on all of the hot spots, and tips for must-try activities while we were in town.  Believe me, these did not disappoint. We felt the warmth and southern hospitality offered by our hosts.

Our first stop was Tybee Island.  This was my first visit to Tybee Island. I love getting to know this old-school quirky little beach town. It is filled with trinket shops, restaurants, bars and so much more. It almost feels like stepping back in time and how the beach should be.  For our two-night stay on Tybee, we stayed at a charming and quirky waterfront vacation rental.  Everyone arrived from various spots around the southeast. We quickly settled in with a glass of wine and a quick meeting with our lovely hosts.

We were sure to head out for the evening before sunset, and AJ’s Dockside was our destination. We had heard about their amazing views as well as the stellar seafood selection. And believe me it did not disappoint. The sunset was unreal, The cocktails were flowing and we gobbled up the fresh seafood and hush puppies.  It was a perfect first night on Tybee despite the rain storm that ensued creating an even more beautiful sunset.

We started the next day with a real indulgence at “The World Famous” The Breakfast Club with a line stretched out the door.  We all shared a huge selection of items and including “The Grill Cleaner’s Special” (diced potatoes, Polish Sausage, green peppers and onions tossed on a hot griddle, scrambled with two eggs, topped with melted Monterey Jack and American cheese. Grits and toast too!) and loaded hash browns with cream cheese inside and pecan waffles. It was decadence at its best. After breakfast, we did a little exploring of the Tybee‘s shops and the Tybee Pier and Pavilion.  The beach had quieted down for fall and we enjoyed a little time in the sand.

Next we hopped over to the Tybee Island Social Club, a chic cocktail club with divine drinks.  A pitcher of blood orange sangria for the group, a beautiful Bloody Mary, a margarita or two and some delicious appetizers complements of the chef had a swooning over this fun spot.

We rounded out the afternoon with another trip the beach looking at the historic officer’s homes, the lighthouse and more. We also found time for a bicycle ride on our colorful cruisers. We all wore our matching Southern Proper windbreakers which will be so handy come fall.

Dinner at Tybee Island Fish Camp was was a true favorite. Their baked oysters rival my favorites in Charleston at Leon’s. They are such a treat filled with cheese, spinach and other goodness.  The food was among the best of the entire trip.

After a lovely few days on Tybee, we headed to Savannah and we were in for yet another treat.

I’m had only Savannah briefly once before Savannah once before. I expected it to be much more like Charleston yet it is truly a city all it’s own.  I fell in love with the charming layout and garden squares around each corner. The plethora of historic homes and architecture captured my heart. We have the honor of staying at the historic Whitman Mansion.   Situated on Forsyth Park, this beauty was originally built in 1895 and boasted some of the most well done historic restoration I have ever seen.  We were hosted to a delicious luncheon by the owner of the home. You could tell he poured his heart and soul into this restoration and absolutely showed. It is the perfect place for family getaway to Savannah, a bridal party or just to get away for a group right in the heart of town..

Saturday, we work treated to blowouts by the ladies at Parlor Dry Bar Savannah.  Our next stop was a visit with the amazing Emily McCarthy at her chicly curated shop and sipped Whispering Angel and shopped custom stationery and monograms.  We then shared an amazing dinner at The Collins Quarter. This is a must when in Savannah for the chic interior, craft cocktails and the delicious food.  Dessert and a few more martinis were enjoyed with the lovely ladies of Sapelo Skin Care at Lulu’s Chocolate Bar.  We chatted with Sapelo‘s founders Cindy and Stephanie about their exciting updates on  upcoming products. These ladies have such a passion for their products and the science behind their skincare line.  The both had a glow I would love to emulate. 

On our last day, we explored more of historic downtown Savannah. We started the day by popping into adorable Mirabelle Cafe for a caffe and authentic Belgian waffle.  We met with Jessica O’Neill, a SCAD alum and talented local artist (expect to see her in my Artist Spotlight soon). After more exploring on the trolleys we headed to SCAD. We met with the delightful Ellie McNevin for a delightful lunch at so chic Gryphon.

The art scene in Savannah is amazing with The Telfair and the Jepson . Do not miss these!

After more shopping at Shop SCAD, SCAD MoA and a SCAD office tour with sweet Ellie. I was absolutely taken with this incredible school. Fingers crossed I will have a student there in just a few years. 

My favorite shopping were stops at The Paris Market,  Zia’s for statement jewelry and Kendra Scott for a fun custom creation at the The Color Bar.   Last stop was iconic Leopold’s for a scoop of homemade ice cream.  Exhausted, we headed home for a refresh before heading out on yet another adventure. 

The evening brought a cocktail at The Grey, and  our last dinner at Elizabeth’s on 37th. This historic Savannah haunt was pure perfection.

The group really enjoyed each others company and we are hoping for another adventure soon. Although, we absolutely ate our way through the lowcountry so we may need to do a little dieting between these visits.
