Stunning East End Summer Home by Kelly Behun
I am obsessed!
East End Summer Vacation Home by Kelly Behun | STUDIO in US via 1st Dibs.
This Hamptons home was created for a fun-loving family of five that had long wanted to build their dream house on the East End. Local esteemed architect James Merrell was in sync with their desire for a home that was modern and clean-lined but with a nod to the local vernacular, and renowned landscape architect Edmund Hollander was brought on board to work his magic with the 4 park-like acres which came to include commissioned works by Brooklyn-based artists Chiaozza, and an oversized stainless steel zipper that appears to unzip the lawn.
The goal with the interiors was to create lively environments for entertaining friends, both inside and out, as well as for when the family just wanted to relax at home alone alongside their growing collection of contemporary art. As with all of Kelly’s interiors, there is a mix of custom pieces, like the Memphis-inspired table and benches in the family room, the handset stone mosaic cocktail table, which perfectly echoes the custom rug by The Rug Company that it sits atop in the library, a futuristic playroom comprised of a series of colorful sleeping pods, and the master bed and upholstered walls in the dreamy master bedroom which was designed to evoke a 70’s apres-ski meets chalet-by-the-sea vibe.
These live alongside pieces from both established and up-and-coming designers including chandeliers by heavy hitters Apparatus Studio, Ladies & Gentleman Studio and Lindsey Adelman, and Thaddeus Wolfe, a sofa by the Campana Brothers, rugs by Kinder Modern including their collaboration with Cody Hoyt, and sofas by Vladimir Kagan.
