Sasha Bikoff at Currey & Company

Sasha Bikoff Designs an amazing art installation for Currey & Company in their High Point Showroom.

It is wild and wonderful and I cannot wait to lay eyes on it.

I love that it is inspired by one of my favorite paintings.

The vow of silence has been lifted to reveal a dramatic art & design installation at the October High Point Market by New York designer, Sasha Bikoff, for Currey & Company. Ms. Bikoff first became a nationally recognized design star when she created the multi- layered and colorful stairway at the 2018 Kips Bay Decorator Show House. This successful project was quickly followed by her installation at Palazzo Versace during Milan Design Week earlier this year. Sasha’s style is heavily influenced by her multicultural hometown, New York City, and by her experiences studying and traveling abroad. Known for her love of vintage couture, antiques and one-of-a-kind pieces, Sasha has been declared as the go-to interior designer for the well-heeled millennial set.

Inspired by Botticelli’s most prized works, The Birth of Venus and Primavera, the installation was realized once Sasha visited the Currey showroom in High Point. Sasha found an abundance of Currey products with design elements from nature – leaves, branches, shells, and traditional faux bois garden furniture. Many of the pieces she chose to highlight evoke classical mythology and the Italian Renaissance. The installation is meant to dazzle with the physical beauty and power of decoration, color, and lighting. Products are re-imagined in an array of colors from the morning sunrise in the Mediterranean Sea to a midnight enchanted forest.

The gleaming white hallway in the Currey showroom has been transformed into a warm collection of colors and textures. The entrance is decorated with a ceiling of white forest florals while the walls are covered in a ripple fold of white sheer and gold metallic fishnet drapes. Immediately following is the grand entrance to Goddess Heaven. Massive murals of Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus adorn the hallway alcoves. The floor is covered with a zodiac runner in aqua, coral, gold and deep blue. Chandeliers, wall sconces, and mirrors dot the walls and ceiling. Gold-leaf metal chaises are covered in a vintage couture silk fabric along with antique mirrored stools. The atmosphere is very romantic. Off the hallway you enter a very large black velvet tent. Covering the back wall of the tent is a massive mural of Botticelli’s Primavera. The floor is laid with Sasha’s Disco Dot carpet in black & nude. Chandeliers and wall sconces with tree, leaf and floral motifs, which are painted in a mix of colors hang from the ceilings and walls to create a dark and magical mood. Faux bois benches, tables and chairs are painted in shades of green, pink, coral, and brown. Arranged in an intimate seating display, painted metal drinks tables are conveniently placed to create a cozy place for conversations, cocktails, and more.

The other BIG NEWS – Sasha will be designing a collection for Currey and Co. Spring 2020.

“Currey & Company historically has been a brand that has designed unique and whimsical pieces inspired by elements of nature and antiquities of the past. The creativity of the brand has always resonated with me and when the opportunity arose to be part of the Currey Family I felt like it was a match made in heaven. For my new collection, I am drawing inspiration from various places and motifs I love. From the beaches of Miami to the west coast in Malibu. From cherries to hearts, to shells and waves, everything will be bright, colorful, fresh and fun. “
