One Room Challenge Spring 2017: Week 3
How is it already week 3?
Panic is starting to creep in… I worked by butt off with brilliant Pure & Simple Carolinas trying to get my room and closet cleaned out and simplified. She seriously has a gift for this therapy of sorts.
I am liking the progress but still have a way to go. Here is a look at the partial progress. Clearly, I like color and scarves and SHOES!
Reminder: Here is the plan from week 2 and the introduction to the space from week 1.

(a few items are possibly not going to make it…UGH)
I was to have the paint and wallpaper complete by now…not quite yet but hopefully by the end of the week….The clock is ticking..quickly.
Lets share a few things I do know. Y’all know I adore a gallery wall. It must be the “more is more” girl in me.
Here are some past ones from previous One Room Challenge’s I participated in.
and a few more from showhouses…
Art and Accessories are the next things to tackle. I turned again to Minted to fulfill my art wishes. They are generously providing art for this project. I wanted to mix in photography and various genres for more visual interest.
“PALE POPPY” – PHOTOGRAPHY LIMITED EDITION ART PRINT BY HAFNHAFSTUDIO / “FLAMINGO” – PHOTOGRAPHY LIMITED EDITION ART PRINT BY KAMALA NAHAS / “TINY WINGS” – PHOTOGRAPHY LIMITED EDITION ART PRINT BY ANDREW MCCLINTOCK / “PINK AGAVE” – PHOTOGRAPHY LIMITED EDITION ART PRINT BY WILDER CALIFORNIA / “LA PLAGE EN BLEU” – PHOTOGRAPHY LIMITED EDITION ART PRINT BY FLORENTINE RODENHUIS / “INNER LIGHT” – MIXED MEDIA LIMITED EDITION ART PRINT BY KRISTI KOHUT – HAPI ART AND PATTERN / “WATERCOLOR INKBLOT 1” – PAINTING LIMITED EDITION ART PRINT BY KRISTEN SMITH
Well I thought I had it but, then I remembered that I needed a TV…I contemplated no TV but that is just a no go. I love TV in bed… and decided to add these fabulous Valaluz Banana Leaf sconces too.
Lighting is such an important element. You want a mix of lamp and ambient light. These sconces give a wash of light on the art and bring art onto that side of the room. Remember to consider all types of lighting. Never use just overhead lights.
These sconces transport me…
“Indulge your tropical fantasy of warm weather and balmy breezes. Originally designed and crafted for an ocean side hotel in South Beach, this nature-inspired collection makes every day feel like a vacation day.”
Who doesn’t want their bedroom to feel like a vacation?
I also thought back to this post…I have been wanting to add african baskets to the plan. Shop Candelabra is the spot for these baskets. They have a great selection. I love the pop of color they add and the fair trade element of these tribal pieces.
I have also been coveting these cheeky Selamat mirrors designed by Justina Blakeney.
Here is kinda what I think I will end up with….i think…I never know until it happens.
What do you think?
Next week I will share the additional accessories I will be using for styling and hopefully more progress.

Choosing wall art is always where I get stuck. There are so many phenomenal options it is hard to decide what will compliment your room’s home decor the best. I adore the succulent photograph from minted; calming while still bringing in a pop of color!
Ariel
I have loved every single one of your ORCs! This entryway and dining room are my favourites. I pinned the heck of out this post.
The closet progress is good! I am envious of your shoe selection though 😉
Nicole Q-Schmitz
I’m loving it so far! It will be fun to see if the gallery wall mockup changes from what you have here; I’m thinking the depth factor may switch things up (ie: the baskets vs. prints).
Lynne Koeniger
