One Room Challenge Fall 2018: Week 3
This One Room Challenge has me on my toes! I have been busy at High Point Market fielding calls and facetiming to see progress and answering questions.
This week did mostly go as planned thankfully. My prior miscalculation in my calendar still has turned up the heat but I am hoping it will all work out.
If you are just tuning in, be sure to go HERE for WEEK 1 and WEEK 2.
I still have a few open items to nail down like art, accessories and a bit more.

These will be out the door into the patio. They are by Craftmade. I chose the The Wolford Sconce because I love the combination of black and brass with the seeded glass. They are perfectly transitional. You can find them HERE.

The Progress:
It has happened! All the base cabinets were installed. I am so glad I went with the simple flat panel cabinets. The towers will go in after the countertops. Hopefully next week.
Countertops were templeted too.
We are tweaking the island design and placement.
The scullery is gonna have so much storage. I cannot wait!
That bar color turned out to be a beauty!
In opening up this view I have another space to figure out in this hallway and I need a back stair runner installed ASAP.
Yikes…add it to the list.
Loving the laundry room. We are tweaking the height to make sure they are flush on the washer and dryer.
I went today to approve the templating of the beautiful slabs from Polycor at Instyle. They are my go to source for countertops in Charlotte.
I went with the Polycor American Black Granite Countertops Honed in the scullery, laundry and dog room. This beautiful black granite with pronounced white veining has marble-like quality in its vein pattern, with the durability of granite. This American Black granite is from ELVERSON, PA, USA.
My bar is Polycor Saint Henry Black granite quarried in Saint-Henri-De- Taillon, Quebec, Canada. This granite is also known as Taillon, Péribonka and Canadian Black. Metallic crystals assemble to create a contemporary work of art on a black, textured canvas. The install is going to be a showstopper.
The kitchen is Polycor White Cherokee Marble Honed Countertops. This marble comes from an extensive quarry in Tate, Georgia that has been operated for more than a century. Stylish White Cherokee is one of the most homogenous marbles, and is used in large architectural projects and American heritage building restorations. It’s also an excellent choice for countertops because it is considered very strong for a marble. I am honored to be able to use this in my kitchen.
The quarry where these stones have been harvested are beautiful.
This is Polycor‘s Tate, Georgia quarry where my countertops were just cut this summer. I love using this marble that is local.
Problems: They are part of this process too.
We ran short on trim but my pals at Metrie who graciously helped with the gorgeous shiplap and trim helped get me straightened out.
I ordered the wrong size lighting for the scullery. I mis-measured. My bad…Hudson Valley has been lovely about this oops. I am in the process of reselecting.
Here are my pretty Hudson Valley fixtures I had selected. The lanterns were taller than anticipated. I am trying to figure out a fix.
Aren’t they lovely?
