Fantastic Fabric by Kari Fisher
I was recently introduced to the wonderful custom fabric and pillow line by Kari Fisher. She is so unique. I am fully obsessed with the Shiva print in orange and I adore the pillows with pom poms. I hope you enjoy getting to know Kari and her designs.

What is your training?
I have a Masters in Interior Design from Florida State University. I also studied for a year at the New York School of Interior Design.
What inspires you and your designs?
My inspiration can come from almost anywhere, I’m always looking. As Diana Vreeland said, “The eye has to travel.” A lot of my inspiration does come from the past…studying printing techniques, looking at historical patterns and forms.
What is your favorite piece?
I love my Shiva “eye” print.
How has the south influenced your work?
I think my work is influenced by both the timeless design and the casual attitude of the south. My pillows are meant to be laid on, squished, fluffed, and wear well over time.
What is your favorite restaurant in Atlanta?
Empire State South…the ambiance & design is just as fabulous as the food.
What is your favorite cocktail?
A cold glass of prosecco with orange bitters
How do you balance personal life and work?
I don’t think I’ve achieved that yet while I’m still working out of my home and can work around the clock. I’m working on moving my studio out of my house to a separate space I can lock up and turn the lights off at the end of the day.
Dream trip?
At least a month of eating & drinking my way along the Mediterranean coast
Dream commission?
A job that would require me to eat & drink my way along the Mediterranean coast
Your favorite hostess gift?
I love making a personalized or monogram pillow.
Who is your style icon?
Emmanuelle Alt, the editor-in-chief at Vogue Paris
Your favorite up and coming artist/designer?
I’m really inspired by a lot of the young stationary/papergoods designers like Anna Rifle Bond.
I also love the paintings of Jules Cozine
and the creations of Paper-Cut-Project
What is your most treasured possession?
I don’t know if it’s right to call my dog, Baxter, a possession, but I treasure him the most
What are you reading?
Usually an Elle Decor or House Beautiful. I usually pick up some knitting to keep my hands busy rather than read a book.
What are you listening to?
My Florence & the Machine Pandora station is always playing in the studio
Favorite Fashion / Design Blogs?
I’m really inspired by fashion so I love reading The Coveteur and Garance Dore. I also love getting to peak into other creative people’s spaces around the world on Freunde von Freunden.
