In furniture trends, the gilded age has been translated for today. 

I am impressed with the CB2 new introductions.  The new collection has loads of brass, gold and copper to brighten your home. I cannot resist a little sparkle and shine. 

That bed and fur bench are certainly welcome in my house! 

shear fun. Playful pile of authentic Icelandic sheepskin cozies up as statement stool for the living room, bedroom or study. Generously sized larger than others we’ve seen, extra-soft shearling juxtaposes sleek rectangular gold metal legs.

posh retreat. Matte black powdercoated iron streamlines the classic canopy bed in dramatic silhouette. Edged with iron corners finished in glam plated brass, dark design rises 80″ high from the ground. Designed by Ceci Thompson to “create a natural focal point in the room, ” box frame floats on airy, space-defining base. Shines with simple bedding. Mattresses available, sold separately.

tray chic. Clear and copper butler serves a glam chain reaction. Linked with a fashion-forward chain end to end, copper-plated iron X-base is a statuesque stand for clear acrylic tray. Removable tray gives a clear view of its slick foundation and carries from room to room via cutouts. Space-saving design folds to store out of the way.

super nova. Designer Donna Piacenza of Studio 1am reimagines the glamour of retro globe bulbs in a new light. Named for one of the brightest stars in the night sky, Vega beams light from seven frosted shades, arranged in a brass-finished canopy as a modern constellation. Piacenza, whose design is defined by pure forms and clean lines, “loves how the light creates a dramatic effect close to the ceiling.” Learn more about  Studio 1a.m. on our blog.

seize the day. The perfect setting for daily siestas. Designed by Mermelada Studio in Spain, graceful daybed approaches sofa styling with the relaxed comfort of a bed. Subtly whitewashed, solid rubberwood frames airy panels handwoven of natural rattan. Inspired by the Mediterranean ritual of taking a relaxing moment after lunch, the designers reflect, “The straightforward wood structure combines with the lightness of the cane weaving for a fresh, contemporary look. The daybed is really complete when you fill it with a mix and match of pillows.” Includes fibercore daybed mattress/trundle with pewter fabric mattress cover.

home stretch. Rich leather warms the director’s bench in old-school style. Slim iron frame and X-shaped legs support sumptuous seat of full-grain, semi-aniline dyed leather that will patina with character over time. Pull up to dining or coffee table or position at the end of the bed.

go for glow. Handmade iron wall sconce suspends the glow of one taper candle against glam copper finish. Wall mount on either side of a favorite art piece or mirror for a modern play on a classic arrangement.

above the fray. Easy, breezy and laid-back, this earthy pendant highlights the textural beauty of nature. Handwoven by Filipino artisans, rattan fibers intersect an organic grid that’s bordered top and bottom by a frayed edge. Exposing the glow of a single bulb within, airy cylindrical pendant suspends from a contrasting black cord and canopy. Bulb not included.

marble offering. White marble floats effortlessly on svelte metal legs in elegant display ideally sized for art or botanicals. Stainless steel base warms in rose gold lacquer with ridged cross-bar support.

geometry table. Warmed in rose gold finish, hand-welded aluminum pedestal angles six flat sides in fine form. Fix it up with a chair or group multiples as unexpected coffee table.

gold diggers. Get a hold on gold at the table. Forged with substantial heft in 18/0 stainless steel (13/0 for the knife) with a gold-colored finish. Matte finish handles contrast gleaming polished heads. 5-piece settings dine party of four.

gold standard. Glossy gold galvanized iron wastebin treats your trash like treasure. Classic, sturdy shape adds a clever wink to office, kitchen, bath.
