Fabric Love: Konstantin Kakanias for Templeton
I am always a sucker for a painterly fabric. This collection is no exception.
Konstantin Kakanias for Templeton is a new collection of fine fabrics and wall coverings designed by acclaimed Greek painter and illustrator Konstantin Kakanias in collaboration with Michael S. Smith. The line features a broad array of strikingly colored prints on cotton, linen, and hemp, all inspired by the artist’s far-flung travels and his adventures in the worlds of art, fashion, and design. From sprightly florals and leaf motifs to whimsical stripes and dots, the fabrics and wallpapers are designed for mixing and matching with a coordinating range of textures, patterns, and hues.
Born in Athens and now based in Los Angeles, Kakanias has been a fixture on the international art and design scene for more than three decades. His work has been exhibited at museums and galleries across the globe. He has also designed fabrics for Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Lacroix, and other titans of fashion. His signature illustrations have appeared in Vogue Paris, Vogue Italia, Vanity Fair, and The New York Times.
