Artist Spotlight Series: Lindsey Meyer
I am totally off schedule but cannot wait until Monday to share the latest rising star in the abstract art world.
I adore her colorful and spirited works that liven up any space.
Enjoy getting to know…
Dallas, Texas
What is your training?
BS in Merchandising from the University of Arkansas. Self taught artist.
What inspires you and your designs?
All areas of design. This could a beautiful living room, a stunning outfit or a really cool editorial layout. I have worked in fashion, graphic design and interior design and each area has added so much to my work.
What is your favorite piece?
Some paintings are just difficult to let go. I have 4 pieces that I have kept that I’ll never sell. “Stellar” is my all time favorite piece. She resides in my living room in a beautiful acrylic box.
How has the your area influenced your work?
There is so much to do in Dallas. I especially love going into the homes of my clients and being a part of the process of a room coming together. It’s very gratifying.
What is your favorite restaurant in Dallas?
What is your favorite cocktail?
I love a tart Moscow Mule.
How do you balance personal life and work?
With a lot of help. I have a wonderful woman who watches my children three days a week. I am not one of those nap time/ late night painters. I need a chunk of time to get in the studio and stay put.
Dream trip?
I hope to one day spend some time in Europe with my husband and then stay another weeks to study with a master painter in Italy.
Dream commission?
Kelly Wearstler or a set for J crew.
Your favorite host / hostess gift to give?
I give away a lot of my smaller pieces as gifts.
Also, my sister (Summer Steinfeld) is a very talented jewelry designer. She is my go-to purchase for friends.
Who is your style icon?
& Gwyneth Paltrow always look so chic.
Your favorite up and coming artist?
Joanna Posey is a dear friend and incredible artist. She may not know this, but she was the one who actually inspired me to begin painting. Check her out!
What is your most treasured possession?
My husband just gave me a Cartier bracelet for Christmas. We adopted a baby girl last year and it is in honor of her. It was the most thoughtful thing anyone has ever done for me.
