Artist Spotlight Series: Barbara Kitallides
Another Australian talent is on the roster in the latest Artist Spotlight Series feature.
I am drawn to her use of riotous color and movement. The textures are incredibly enticing as well.

What is your training?
I studied an Art and Design Diploma at Chisholm College, Melbourne. Followed by Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) at Monash University Melbourne
What inspires you and your designs?
My main source of inspiration comes from my internal and external environment, what I see and feel. I also visit a lot of galleries both here in Melbourne and also when traveling.
What is your favorite piece?

How has your area influenced your work?
My work often has a reference to the ‘urban jungle’ in a metaphoric sense and also the physical landscape. But my influence usually comes more from my state of mind then my physical surroundings.
What is your favorite restaurant in Melbourne ?
Aside from my parents home cooked feasts!
Baby Pizza is a favorite.
What is your favorite cocktail?
Spring/Summer: Mojito, champagne, wine
Autumn/Winter: Red wine
How do you balance personal life and work?
I do not separate art from life, for me it’s all one.
Dream trip?
I’ve been fortunate to travel a lot over the years: Italy, Spain, Greece, Cyprus, New York, Indonesia, Thailand, Dubai.

Next on the list is: Switzerland, LA
Dream trip on loop is really simple – Mediterranean island, sun, sea, food, drinks with my loved ones.

I don’t have anything tangible that I treasure, my memories and life experiences are what I treasure most and family.

Re-reading The Alchemist (first time was in 1999)

Everything!
I really do listen to all types of music (except jazz)…
