Addison Weeks Jewelry and A GIVEAWAY!
What is your training?
I graduated with a degree in Art History from Davidson College and a degree in Graphic Design from Portfolio Center in Atlanta. I think I have been always been creative. Much of what I’ve learned in design, I’ve learn out of curiosity and a desire to “figure it out”. My parents bought me my first Apple IIe in 1986 and I was hooked. I didn’t learn to make jewelry until I was in my 20’s. I love graphic design , but nothing compares to sitting at a table for hours creating something with your hands. And to see someone like it enough to wear it, is awesome!
What inspires you and your designs?
Right now Lee (my business partner) and I are focused on gemstones with depth and luster. Rainbow Moonstone, Labradorite, Jade… the natural beauty of these stones is amazing. I am also very inspired by vintage pieces from the 70s. I love digging through junky piles of old jewelry at the flea market. Good design is timeless and we try to remember that in our collections.
(images below are two of our items and then two images from the flea market)

What is your favorite piece?
My favorite piece is the Bartholomew necklace. It was inspired by a necklace my grandmother purchased in Italy in the 70s. It can be worn with anything.
How has the south influenced your work?
Lee and I have always lived in the South. We launched two jewelry lines in the South and the support we have gotten from our friends and family is amazing. People have opened their homes to introduce our lines to their friends. Their warm Southern hospitality has been the perfect backdrop for the launch of our new line. The South is like one big small town and I love living here.
What is your favorite restaurant in (your city)?
All my friends laugh that I order off the kids menu, so this is a tough one to answer. My favorite place would be this neighborhood spot in Charlotte called Primo. I like it because it has big round tables that can seat large groups and it is never crowded. Some of my funnest nights have been there.
What is your favorite cocktail?
Chardonnay. Followed by Beer over ice.
How do you balance personal life and work?
I have three boys under the age of 7 so there is no balance. I try not to take anything too seriously. My husband helps a ton!
Dream trip?
I dream of packing up my family and friends for the summer and move to Monhegan, Maine. It is an island ten miles off the Maine coast. There are no cars. We would paint, draw and be creative all summer in a place like this. I might even read a book.
Dream commission?
Now that we have started doing some home accessories I would love to design a killer collection of jewelry boxes. I imagine them in a fabulous dressing room.
Your favorite hostess gift?
I love giving these fun Soap Rocks to my friends. They are soaps that look like geodes. I also think our small jeweled boxes are great gifts.
Who is your style icon?
I think Vanessa Traina and Max Snow have really cool style.
I also think Mary McDonald has awesome taste .
Your favorite up and coming artist/designer?
When we were doing a jewelry show in New Orleans and were introduced to two great artists- Amanda Talley and Alexis Walter.. Amanda Talley is exploding right now – her gallery and studio on Magazine Street is worth seeing. We also bought some paintings by Alexis Walter.
What is your most treasured possession?
My most treasured possession would be two paintings I have by Hobson Pittman. He is an early 20th century NC artist who is also a distant relative. The paintings have been in my family for a long time and have a special place in my heart.
What are you reading?
The last book I read was “The Beatles Biography” by Bob Spitz. Its a tie between George Harrison and Paul McCartney for my favorite Beatle.
What are you listening to?
I cannot get enough of My Morning Jacket right now. I have the live album Okonokos on repeat. I also am a massive Wilco fan so they are always in the background somewhere.
Favorite Fashion / Design Blogs?
I love The Selby. It makes me feel normal that I love cats and junk.

What fantastic and beautiful designs. Thank you for turning me on to Addison Weeks jewelry. The earrings are stunning: delicate, slightly industrial, and like the backbone of a fish.
