Artist Spotlight Series: Peter Strid
This Philadelphia talent was introduced to me by my friend Janie of Jane Win Jewelry.
I am thrilled he is the next Artist Spotlight Series feature and his work would make an amazing holiday gift with a print or an original.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
What is your training?
I majored in Art at Colgate University in Hamilton NY, but I am mostly a self taught painter.

What inspires you and your designs?
Simply put…I paint the things in life that I am fond of. Beautiful Women, Fish, Bourbon, Champagne, Iconic Characters etc…
What is your favorite piece?
One of my favorite paintings is “Take Aim” An Oil Painting of Steve McQueen in a pink shirt pointing a gun with a bar code beaming out. It is painted over vintage Pink Panther Graphic Novel over canvas.
How has the your area influenced your work?
I’d probably say my influences are stronger from places I’ve lived or traveled to. Specifically, NYC, Wyoming, Spain, Miami…I always find inspiration exploring other parts of the world.
What is your favorite restaurant in Philly?
Favorite Restaurant in Philadelphia is a Noodle Bar called Cheu Fishtown
What is your favorite cocktail?
I am fond of Casamigos Reposado with Soda and a squeeze of lime.
How do you balance personal life and work?
I have a typical 9-5 Tech Consulting Job for a large company and I squeeze my painting into my down time. I have a wife and three kids that are a priority, but the art allows me a meditative moment to recharge.
Dream trip?
My dream trip would have to be Llafranc Palafrugell Spain on the southern coast just north of Barcelona. We visited as a family last summer and Covid had other plans for us this summer 🙁
Dream commission?
I’d love to paint a bottle of Casamigos For George Clooney
Your favorite host / hostess gift to give?
I actually often like to give limited edition prints of my paintings…I was recently hosted by a friend on a trip to New Canaan CT and gave him limited edition, signed Dom Perignon.
Who is your style icon?
Honestly my wife. She has the best style of anyone I know. Not that I’m the Louboutin wearing type. If I had to choose a guy…I’d say Eddie Vedder.
Your favorite up and coming artist?
I am a huge fan of a Canadian artist Todd Monk based out of Toronto. His works are stunning.
What is your most treasured possession?
My family and closest friends.
What are you reading?
The Artist’s Way – A Spiritual PAth to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron
What are you listening to?
A current playlist would include: Phish, Amy Winehouse, Cory Wong, Khalid, and Bob Marley.
What are your favorite blogs / publications?
I pull a lot of interesting content from Reddit.
