Textile Tuesday: Aloka
Do I have a Textile Tuesday treat for you!
Aloka’s soft goods are made from a repurposed material constructed of layers of vintage saris stitched into durable quilts.
These quilts, most 60-80 years old, have been carefully selected then prepared for production with rigorous shampooing and softening.
Aloka’s creative team then reimagines some of them in rich over-dyes and original block prints.
Aloka is also:
* sustainably-sensitive (made of repurposed vintage saris)
* comforting, soft and versatile
* represented in some of the coolest designer owned boutiques across the country including Cloth & Kind in Ann Arbor, Steel + Plank in Athens, Georgia, Eagle’s Rest Natural Home in Lawrence, Kansas and French & French Interiors in Santa Fe.
I am mad for these modern heirlooms!
