Dallas Texas
What is your training?
I graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a BFA in Studio Art.
What inspires you and your designs?
Nature and the process of creating. In January of 2016, I launched a wallpaper line, which is a reflection of my art work. This month I will be introducing grasscloth and metallic designs into the line.
What is your favorite piece?
My new moth and butterfly series is a current favorite. These works are painted in oil on a delicate Belgian linen with gold leaf accents and a frayed edge to mimic the fragile nature of the moth and butterfly.
How has the your area influenced your work?
I have lived in Dallas all of my life and I’m so thankful for a community of supportive friends and family. Dallas is growing at a rapid pace and the art scene is quickly taking root. The Dallas Design District is exploding and it’s incredible to have so many talented vendors minutes from home.
What is your favorite restaurant in Dallas?
Favorite lunch spot is Bird Bakery
and favorite dinner spot is Javiers.
What is your favorite cocktail?
How do you balance personal life and work?
Our children are 11 and 15 so I work when they’re in school. Otherwise, any pocket of time I’ll spend catching up on emails or working with vendors. Night time is family time. But I usually find time on the weekend to paint.
Dream trip?
Currently my daughter and I are dreaming of a beach vacation. Turks and Caicos would be nice…
Dream commission?
I would love to see one of my painting hanging in a room with my wallpaper.
Who is your style icon?
Your favorite up and coming artist?
US – Sally King Benedict
International – paintings by Daniel Jackson
and Nathan Peter – both out of PSM Gallery in Berlin, Germany
What is your most treasured possession?
Anything my grandmother owned. She had an amazing sense of style both fashion and in the home.
What are you reading?
Lately, I haven’t had much time to read. But when In The Company of Woman by Grace Bonney came out, I read it in a day. It was so inspiring hearing the stories of other creatives.
What are you listening to?
Mumford & Son. Honestly it’s a wide range. I always listen to music when I paint.
