A friend recommended I watch Woman in Gold before I head to Europe and specifically Vienna and I am so glad I did. I watched it on the plane over the Atlantic. 

I am so moved by the story, the art and this movie.  If you are an art lover I HIGHLY recommend you rent it or buy it asap. 

Brief Synopsis:

Sixty years after fleeing Vienna, Maria Altmann (Helen Mirren), an elderly Jewish woman, attempts to reclaim family possessions that were seized by the Nazis. Among them is a famous portrait of Maria’s beloved Aunt Adele: Gustave Klimt’s “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I.” With the help of young lawyer Randy Schoeberg (Ryan Reynolds), Maria embarks upon a lengthy legal battle to recover this painting and several others, but it will not be easy, for Austria considers them national treasures.

It was so meaningful seeing so many Klimt’s yesterday at the the Belvedere in Vienna.  I have always been fond on Klimt but now I am an AVID fan.  I NYC trip is in order to see the Klimt from “Woman in Gold” AdeleBloch-Bauer on permanent display at Neue Galerie.
