Artist Spotlight Series: Jessie Breakwell
Jessie’s work needs no introduction. You will certainly know just why I love about this Australian talent.

What is your training?
I was almost born with a paint brush in my hand. my mother was an interior decorator and was a huge inspiration for me. I did Fine Arts at Royal Melbourne RMIT and majored in painting.
What inspires you and your designs?
colour, design, movement, and my travels. I love pattern and textures, but bret whitely was my first true love.
What is your favorite piece?
So hard to pick as i go through a lot of different stages but i do love my latest elephant work

How has the your area influenced your work?
I have traveled the world and lived in many different countries so i am inspired by not just my own city. But melbourne is a hugely creative and Innovative city.
What is your favorite restaurant in (your city)?
There are too many to choose but if i had to say one that i keep going back to that would be the stoke house up stairs in St Kilda.
I Have had many a memorable lunch or dinner there and it has with stood the test of time. Its a great place to celebrate.
What is your favorite cocktail?
Can’t go past a Mojito
How do you balance personal life and work?
I dont! its the impossible dream, i have about 20 clients at the moment snapping at my heals for their works before christmas.
Dream trip?
I dont really have a dream trip as i always make it a reality. I tend to act on impulse and just pick up and go. I just got back from a 2 week stint in NYC for my friend 40th which was amazing.
Dream commission?
I Actually have an amazing one at the moment which i picked up in NYC from a man that i met at the Bowery hotel where i was staying. He has commissioned an enormous painting for his beach house in the hamptons.
Your favorite host / hostess gift to give?
Often give a little water colour.

My daughter
What are you reading?
I am reading about 10 books ranging from,
JM coetzee Diary of a bad year to
catching fire from the hunger games. I struggle to stay wake 🙂
